Since coming back home from Hawaii to home here in Alabama a few days ago, I was able to go to our store in person at a local market. It was nice to see the store in person. After learning in greater detail how exactly the soaps are made, I realized making all natural goat's milk handcrafted soap can be a very difficult undertaking.
It requires some degree of money, time, and effort, as well as a great deal of knowledge. Making soap requires precise temperatures, precise times, and precise steps so that minor fluctuations don't make the soap turn out improperly.
I learned that one of the reasons we use olive oil, coconut oil, and palm kernel oil, is because each has a different temperature at which it is more liquid or solid. Olive oil is most liquid at room temperature, while coconut oil becomes liquid at 76 degrees Fahrenheit, and palm kernel oil doesn't become liquid until even high temperatures.
These three oils are used at different times in our soaps based on factors such as the temperature of the soap and the temperature and humidity of the atmosphere. When each oil is used at the proper time it ensures that the soap will develop with a perfect smooth texture; however, if not it is possible for the soap to become excessively oily.
There is quite a bit to making soap, with the right ingredients and items anyone can make soap, but it does require hard work, and time, and money for quality ingredients.
