Since Coming Back Home From Hawaii

Since coming back home from Hawaii to home here in Alabama a few days ago, I was able to go to our store in person at a local market.  It was nice to see the store in person.  After learning in greater detail how exactly the soaps are made, I realized making all natural goat's milk handcrafted soap can be a very difficult undertaking.

It requires some degree of money, time, and effort, as well as a great deal of knowledge.  Making soap requires precise temperatures, precise times, and precise steps so that minor fluctuations don't make the soap turn out improperly.

I learned that one of the reasons we use olive oil, coconut oil, and palm kernel oil, is because each has a different temperature at which it is more liquid or solid.  Olive oil is most liquid at room temperature, while coconut oil becomes liquid at 76 degrees Fahrenheit, and palm kernel oil doesn't become liquid until even high temperatures.

These three oils are used at different times in our soaps based on factors such as the temperature of the soap and the temperature and humidity of the atmosphere.  When each oil is used at the proper time it ensures that the soap will develop with a perfect smooth texture; however, if not it is possible for the soap to become excessively oily.

There is quite a bit to making soap, with the right ingredients and items anyone can make soap, but it does require hard work, and time, and money for quality ingredients.

Today We Helped Support a Local Animal Shelter!

Today the Sand Dollar Soaps company went over to the local animal shelter and helped attract visitors to the area through selling our products, and also financially assisted the animal shelter by donating half of the proceeds from our sales to their cause.

Thankfully a number of dogs were adopted at the animal shelter event gathering, and many people had a good time there as well!  Volunteers there were handing out popcorn, and helping to make a good time.

One of the favorites and ours as well was our Peppermint soap. This wonderful soap is made with Peppermint and eucalyptus essential oils, goat's milk, and coconut oil, olive oil, palm kernel oil. The high grade ingredients are reflected in the wondrous scent!

The Benefits and Special Stress Relieving Abilities of Aromatherapy

What Does Aromatherapy Benefit?

"There are many benefits of using aromatherapy. Aromatherapy may benefit health, emotions, mood, and environment. And, it's fun to discover new aromatherapy benefits and uses for essential oils for yourself.

Benefits of Aromatherapy & Sense of Smell

As the word “aromatherapy” implies, essential oils usually are quite fragrant. There are several ways to use essential oils, and in many cases it is not even necessary to smell an essential oil to receive its benefits. Despite this, the fact that essential oils are aromatic does give aromatherapy an added therapeutic dimension, due to the way humans perceive and process scents.
Aromas are sensed and analyzed in the reticular system of the brain stem. In this system, emotions, memories, and attention are connected. Herein lies one of the powerful benefits of aromatherapy – it can not only help to heal some physical imbalances of the body, but also affect emotions and memory.
Certain aromas can stimulate the hypothalamus, the part of the brain that controls the endocrine system and many body functions. The hypothalamus may then activate the pituitary gland, which produces hormones that can affect both the physical body and the emotions. Hormones influence emotions and behavior as well as regulate the activities of organs or specific groups of cells in the body. There is also evidence of a link between scent and immune system function."
